Chief Of Police Pens Hilarious Letter To Criminals, Suggests Netflix Or Baking

November 7, 2025

The Chief of Police in Arnaudville, Louisiana, took time out of his busy day to address a very… unique audience — the local criminals.

His letter, written with equal parts humor and exasperation, is gaining attention online for its playful tone and creative suggestions for staying out of trouble.

Chief Josh Ross decided to put pen to paper and appeal directly to the lawbreakers in his town, reminding them that maybe — just maybe — there are better hobbies than illegal activity. And honestly, we’re applauding the sense of humor.

This is what Chief Ross wrote in his 'Letter to All Local Criminals':

Dear Lawbreakers,

First off, we hope this letter finds you well — though, ideally, not in the middle of committing a crime. We’ve noticed a recent uptick in questionable decisions around town, especially regarding illegal narcotics. While we understand that everyone needs a hobby, we’d kindly ask you to pick a different one.

You see, we at the Arnaudville Police Department work long hours making sure our community is safe. But when you keep breaking the law, you make us stay up late filling out paperwork — and nobody likes paperwork. Seriously. Nobody.

We’d love to spend more time drinking coffee, helping citizens, and rescuing cats from trees, but instead, we’re chasing you down for things like distributing methamphetamine and fighting with the police. Please… stop.

In the spirit of cooperation, here are a few friendly alternatives to crime:

  • Try Netflix, where you can watch the police chase other people, besides you.
  • Start a hobby that doesn’t involve handcuffs.
  • Bake cookies instead of breaking and entering.

We promise: if you stop breaking the law, we’ll stop chasing you. It’s a win-win!

With love, respect, and mild exasperation,

Your Friends at the Arnaudville Police Department
(Serving, protecting, and occasionally sighing deeply.)

Chief Ross reminds everyone that keeping the peace doesn’t always have to be serious business. Sometimes, a little humor — and maybe a batch of fresh cookies — can bring a town together faster than any citation ever could.
