She did it!
Cheyenne has officially made history as the first female jail resident to earn her GED through a new partnership between the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and Athens Technical College in Georgia.

Cheyenne’s accomplishment represents far more than a diploma — it’s a powerful symbol of hope, hard work, and personal transformation.
After completing the six-week Unit 6 Re-Entry Success Program, she’s continuing to build on her achievements by participating in Future Foundations and D.I.Y. Creative Construction, two of the many programs designed to help residents prepare for life after incarceration.
The CCSO currently offers more than 20 free educational programs inside the Athens-Clarke County Jail. It’s all part of Sheriff John Q. Williams’ vision to focus on rehabilitation, education, and real re-entry success — giving residents the tools and confidence they need to create a better future.
“We are excited to announce our second jail resident — the first female — to earn their GED," the CCSO wrote on Facebook. "Cheyenne’s achievement represents more than just a diploma; it symbolizes hope, hard work, and a genuine commitment to personal growth.”
Cheyenne’s milestone is proof that with determination and the right support, it’s never too late to rewrite your story.
