World's Only Spotless Giraffe Born At Tennessee Zoo

August 22, 2023

A Tennessee zoo has welcomed the world's only spotless giraffe.

The young giraffe was born on on July 31 at Brights Zoo in Limestone, Tennessee.

"Giraffe experts believe she is the only solid-colored reticulated giraffe living anywhere on the planet," Brights Zoo stated in a release.

"From day one we've been in contact with zoo professionals all over the country," said Brights Zoo director, David Bright. "And especially the old timers, that have been around for a long time, 'Hey, have you seen this? What's your thoughts?' And nobody's seen it."

The baby giraffe is already six feet tall and is “thriving” under her mother’s care.

The zoo is asking the public to help name her.

They have narrowed it down to the following 4 names (and their meanings):

1. Kipekee - Unique
2. Firali - Unusual or Extradonary
3. Shakiri - She is most beautiful
4. Jamella - One of great beauty

The voting will run until Labor Day, September 4.
