New Orleans Kicker Consoles Cleveland's Kicker After Missing Multiple Kicks

September 18, 2018

On Sunday, The New Orleans Saints beat the Cleveland Browns 21-18, but they may not have won if Browns' kicker Zane Gonzalez didn't miss two field goals and an extra point.

One of those field goals was a potential game-winner for a team that has not won a game since 2016.

After the game, an incredible moment of true sportsmanship happened. Saints kicker Wil Lutz walked over to Gonzales to console him.

But Lutz's support for Gonzales didn't end there.

Naturally, Gonzalez has been verbally attacked by fans on social media for his misses and most Browns fans aren't happy with his presence on the team right now.

"Really upset about it," Gonzalez said after the game. "It sucks that we were so close to that win and it's been so long, and I just let everybody down."

So here's what Lutz wrote on Twitter:

"At the end of the day it's not 'just a game' to us, this is our livelihood. Our careers rely on personal performance, as does everyone else's. I will never pull for someone to fail, as I know I will too. I hope to see nothing more than Zane have an amazing career going forward."
