A dog named "Negro" is a campus resident at Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Colombia. For the last five years, campus faculty have provided Negro with food and a place to sleep at night.

One day, Negro discovered a store on campus that sold cookies and noticed the students were handing over little pieces of green paper in exchange for the delicious treats. So, he decided to try something similar.

"He would go to the store and watch the children give money and receive something in exchange," teacher Angela Garcia Bernal told The Dodo. "Then one day, spontaneous, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie."

The store accepted Negro's payment and now it's become a regular event.

"He comes for cookies every day,"store employee Gladys Barreto said. "He always pays with a leaf. It is his daily purchase."
