Chamonix France was host to the first ever Winter Olympics back in 1924 and competitors' uniforms were slightly different than what we are used to seeing today...

At some point, "sports" was just a bunch of guys messing around outside. They wore whatever they normally would, and one guy would bet the other guy that he could skate across a pond or sled down a hill faster. Now we have incredible, record shattering, world class athletes who are amazing to watch. Everything they do, from big things, like the years of training, to small things, like the stitching on their uniforms, is designed to give them an edge.
