Teen Composer Turns Ugly Siren Sounds Into Beautiful Music, Receives Standing Ovation
May 7, 2020
This is the "Siren Sounds Waltz" by composer Alma Deutscher at Carnegie Hall.
Deutscher is a 15-year-old musical prodigy who composed her first piano sonata at age 6. With this piece, she stepped out of the box and created beauty from modern chaos.
This is a breakthrough piece that shows she really is becoming a genius level composer.
She said: "Some people told me that melodies are no longer acceptable in serious classical music. Because in the twenty-first century, music must reflect the ugliness of the modern world. Well, in this waltz, instead of trying to make my music artificially ugly in order to reflect the modern world, I went in exactly the opposite direction! I took some ugly sounds from the modern world - and I tried to turn them into something more beautiful through music."
