Son Films The Heartbreaking Moment Mom Forgets Who He Is. But Her Last Words Tell The Truth
February 1, 2017
Joe started a weekly video series on YouTube called Mother and Son's Journey with Dementia.
"I made a commitment to my mother, caregivers and other people suffering from Dementia that we would make a difference and show the world the suffering that's involved with this disease. I plan on taking this video series all the way to the end."
In his most recent video, uploaded Jan. 31, his mother forgets who he is for the first time.
"I wasn't expecting this today," he writes. "It was the worst day of my life."
However, her last words in the video are "I love you so much. Don't forget." She may not be able to articulate the exact relationship with him, but she knows he's her heart. Dementia is taking her memory of his adult face, but it hasn't taken the feeling she gets when she's with him.
