Man Learns Sign Language to Ask His Deaf Future In-Laws for Permission to Marry Their Daughter

June 18, 2026

A touching marriage proposal story is warming hearts online after a man went the extra mile to communicate directly with his future in laws in a way they would never forget.

When Emma's fiancé decided he wanted to ask for her parents' blessing before proposing, he didn't simply rely on an interpreter or ask someone else to help. Instead, he took it upon himself to learn sign language so he could personally have the conversation with her deaf parents.

The emotional moment was captured on video and later shared on TikTok, where it quickly went viral.

Emma said the gesture meant far more than she could put into words.

"Cried 100 times editing this 🥺," she wrote alongside the video. "I've had friends too scared to speak to my parents and now I have a FIANCÉ who learned sign language for them. So so blessed."
