How a Stray Cat’s Litter Grew by One Bunny
June 5, 2026
A stray cat that wandered onto a Vian, Oklahoma porch has turned a routine rescue into an extraordinary story of foster motherhood.
Realizing the cat was pregnant, homeowner Kathy Price set up a cozy towel-lined box on her porch. Soon after, the cat gave birth to five healthy kittens: three orange and two gray. But just a few days later, the headcount suddenly didn't add up.
“We were checking on the kittens, and my husband said, ‘How many kittens did she have?’ and I said, ‘Five.’ He said, ‘There’s six in here,’ and I looked and said, ‘That’s a bunny,’” Kathy told 5News.
While the Price family is baffled as to how the tiny rabbit made its way into the makeshift nest, the mother cat didn't hesitate. She immediately accepted the bunny as one of her own, proving that family isn't about matching fur — it's about love.
