NYC Food Influencer Reviews A Struggling Family Restaurant And Brings It Back To Life
February 3, 2026
Sometimes, a small act can make a huge difference. That’s exactly what happened when Ertan Bek, a popular NYC restaurant reviewer, stepped into Plaka Greek Restaurant, a family-run eatery in New York City.
The restaurant, run by a Greek couple in their 70s, was nearly empty when Ertan arrived. There was only one customer dining. Concerned about the struggling business, Ertan decided to share his experience with his followers on Instagram and TikTok.
After getting so many questions from his followers, Ertan went back three days later — and the restaurant was packed. Customers filled the tables, the kitchen was busy, and the owners had even stopped some delivery orders because they ran out of items.
The restaurant owner, who Ertan affectionately calls theía (Greek for “aunt”), was overwhelmed with gratitude. She told him how much his review had helped their family, lifting their spirits and bringing their restaurant back to life.
This story is a reminder of the power of community, social media, and simply taking a moment to share something good. A single post brought new customers, excitement, and hope to a family who needed it most.
