Shoppers at a rural German supermarket got more than they bargained for this week when a flock of sheep made an unexpected entrance.

On Monday morning, around 50 sheep broke away from their herd and trotted straight into a Penny supermarket in Burgsinn, Bavaria. The woolly visitors spent about 20 minutes wandering mostly around the checkout area, calmly milling about as stunned customers looked on.

After their brief shopping spree, the sheep decided it was time for a ewe-turn and casually made their way back outside.
