Last month, Humane World for Animals rescued 80 dogs from an alleged dogfighting operation spread across multiple properties in Florida.

Many of the dogs were found living outdoors, chained up or isolated in crumbling hutches, with little to no access to clean water, food, or comfort. For most of them, neglect and cruelty had been a daily reality.

Winter was one of those dogs.

Rescuers believe she was being used for dogfighting — a life no animal should ever endure. Yet despite everything she had been through, Winter’s story didn’t end in fear.

Instead, it ended in love.
