This Turkey Was Heartbroken — Until Her Owner Gave Her The Sweetest Surprise
October 30, 2025
Jenny the turkey from Kamloops, B.C., had a rough summer — none of her eggs hatched, and she longed to be a mom. Her maternal instincts were so strong that she even started stealing chicken eggs from around the farm!
Seeing how much Jenny wanted to nurture something, her owner, Jackie McGregor, came up with a brilliant idea. Jackie partnered with a local school that was hatching chicken eggs and, once the chicks were born, her husband made a special nighttime delivery — swapping the stolen eggs for seven tiny, peeping chicks.
The moment Jenny heard their chirps, her motherly instincts kicked in.
“As soon as she heard them peeping she became delighted,” Jackie said. “She started cooing and fluffing her feathers. Her purpose had been realized and she was so excited that her babies had arrived..”
Now, Jenny proudly struts around the farm as a devoted mom — to seven adorable baby chickens. And this Thanksgiving, she’s not on the dinner table… she’s at the head of the family!
