Elephants Form Protective Circle Around Young During Earthquake At San Diego Zoo

What happened during an earthquake at the San Diego Zoo is a touching example of elephant family bonds.

The adult elephants immediately sensed danger and instinctively formed a protective circle around the younger members of their herd.

Once the shaking stopped and they sensed the threat had passed, the herd relaxed and returned to their usual routines.

 

It’s a beautiful reminder of how intelligent and caring these gentle giants are.
