Heroic Nurses Shield Newborns During Massive Myanmar Earthquake

April 2, 2025

When a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near the Myanmar-China border, two nurses in a neonatal unit showed incredible bravery. CCTV footage captured the moment they held onto newborns, shielding them as the hospital shook violently around them.

Despite the chaos, their only concern was protecting the tiny infants.

"We were only focused on the babies and just wanted to protect them," one nurse said. "After all, we have the ability to act, and they do not."

Soon after the quake impact, maternity centre staff and newborns were relocated to safety. No casualties or deaths have been reported.
