Elephant Shows Pure Joy Watching Drummer, Then Joins In!

November 29, 2024

Who knew elephants had a knack for music? Behind the scenes at Buttonwood Park Zoo, Emily, a resident elephant, amazed staff by showing off her unexpected talent—playing the drums!

A zoo employee brought out a drum, curious to see how Emily might react. As the employee began playing, Emily watched with keen interest. Then, after patiently watching, she gently extended her trunk through the fence and tapped the drum, perfectly mimicking the employee’s movements.

Her curiosity and natural rhythm were a reminder of just how remarkable elephants can be.

Elephants are celebrated for their memory and problem-solving abilities, but Emily’s sense of fun took her skills to a whole new level. The zoo employee described the moment as “pure joy,” watching Emily engage with the drum as if she had been waiting for her turn to perform.

@rossifaripod More Emily drumming content from this summer, as has been requested (time and time and time again).
