Stranger Films Couple’s Dream Proposal, Then Goes Viral Trying to Find Them
October 15, 2026
A stranger captured a couple’s unforgettable beach proposal on video, but she didn’t stop there. Determined to make sure they received the precious memory, she shared the footage online in hopes of finding them.
The result was millions of views, an outpouring of love, and an unexpected wedding invitation.

As the sun began setting over Point Mugu State Beach in Malibu, Daniel Sanchez knew the moment had arrived. When the clouds parted and sunlight broke through, he turned to his longtime love, Blanca Carcamo, and got down on one knee.
“The clouds part and then the sun comes out, and I'm like, ‘Oh my god!’ If there's not a better moment, it's now,” Sanchez recalled.
For Carcamo, the proposal was a long time coming. The couple had been together for years, and she joked that she'd spent much of that time in what she called “engagement purgatory.”
But their love story goes back even further than their relationship.
The two knew each other as children through their church, although they eventually lost touch. Years later, after they began dating as adults, Carcamo's father noticed something familiar in old family photographs.
He sent the pictures to his daughter, asking if she recognized the boy in them.
“A couple years ago, he sent the pictures, and he was like, ‘Do you recognize this guy?’ And I look closer, and I'm like, ‘Oh my God, that's Daniel! We came out in the same Quinceañera?’” Carcamo recalled.
It was a sweet reminder that their paths had crossed long before they fell in love.
And on the day Daniel finally proposed, another unexpected person became part of their story.
A Stranger Wanted Them to Have This Memory Forever
Brandee Evans happened to be nearby when she encountered Carcamo's father, who was waiting for the big moment to unfold.
“He, like, peeks out, and he's like, ‘My daughter's getting engaged today.’ And I was like, ‘This is amazing! Oh my gosh, I wanna see this!’ So I look at my guy, and I'm like, ‘We ain't going nowhere!’” Evans recalled.
From her vantage point above the beach, Evans watched as Sanchez popped the question and Carcamo experienced the moment she'd been waiting years for.
She began recording, wanting to preserve the beautiful scene. But there was one problem. She didn't know the couple.
Rather than let the footage disappear into her phone's camera roll, Evans decided to put it online, hoping the power of social media would help her track down the newly engaged pair.
She posted the video across multiple platforms, and her plan worked. The proposal has since attracted nearly 3 million views, eventually reaching Sanchez and Carcamo.
@therealbrandee Yesterday in Malibu, as I was leaving the beach, I noticed a whole family hiding behind my car. Now of course I needed to know what was going on. 👀Haha. The dad tells me his daughter is about to get engaged, and that’s when I realized… WAIT! It was the same couple I had been sitting near on the beach! So naturally, because I’m nosy, I stayed to watch.🤣 The whole time he’s taking selfies and pictures of her, I’m thinking, “Okay, but how are you gonna get this girl to turn around?!” Then he starts fixing her hair and tells her to look out at the water so he can get a picture from the back. I said, okayyyy sir… SMOOTH! 👏🏾 By the time I made it back to my car, the family had already left, so I didn’t get a chance to share the video with them. Now I need the internet to do its thing! If anybody knows this beautiful couple, please tag them so they can have this moment from another angle. I’m yelling at the end like she’s my cousin. 🫣😂😆 Congratulations, y’all! This was so sweet to witness. #Malibu #Engaged ♬ original sound - Brandee Evans
The couple was able to recover a memory they might otherwise never have seen, and they were greeted by thousands of congratulatory messages from people celebrating their happiness.
“It's really nice seeing all the positive comments,” Carcamo said. “Everyone's saying they admire our relationship.”
The couple has also been touched by the gifts and support they've received through their online registry.
For Evans, the experience was about much more than a viral video.
“To open Instagram and Facebook and Twitter, TikTok, and see nothing but love for total strangers, I think that's what the world should be about,” she said.
And the story has one more heartwarming twist.
Sanchez and Carcamo were so grateful to Evans for helping them recover their special moment that they invited her to attend their wedding.
Evans happily accepted, saying she'll be there whether or not she has a plus-one.
