7th Grader Donates Over 30,000 Diapers To Families In Need

October 5, 2026

When 12-year-old Sloan noticed that a local organization was running out of diapers, she decided to do something about it.

Five years later, her simple idea has grown into an incredible annual effort that recently delivered more than 30,000 diapers to families in need.

Sloan was just 7-years-old when she first visited Nourish Phoenix in Arizona with her mom to help prepare food boxes for families in the community.

After volunteering, the staff gave Sloan a tour of the facility and showed her an area where diapers were kept for families with young children.

But there was a problem.

The shelves were nearly empty.

Sloan learned that diapers were one of the items the organization ran out of the fastest because they are expensive and constantly in demand.

On the way home, she turned to her mom with a simple idea.

"Mom, we should get some diapers and bring them back for Nourish Phoenix."

That small idea became Sloan's Diaper Drive.

Her first drive collected about 7,000 diapers thanks to donations from family and friends. And instead of stopping there, Sloan decided to make it an annual tradition.

Five years later, that tradition has grown into a community-wide effort.

This year, Sloan, now a seventh grader, collected an incredible 30,326 diapers and delivered them to Nourish Phoenix, filling an entire U-Haul.

It was one of the largest diaper donations the organization has ever received.

The need is especially great because, unlike food, there are no government assistance programs specifically designed to help families pay for diapers. Nourish Phoenix provides families with food, clothing, hygiene products and job assistance, and diapers are among the most requested items they distribute.

Sloan's annual drive is now helping make sure families with young children don't have to choose between buying diapers and paying for other necessities.

"Thank you to our community for showing up in such a BIG way!" Sloan shared after this year's donation. "With your incredible support, 30,326 diapers were delivered to Nourish Phoenix today."

What started with a 7-year-old noticing an empty shelf has become a yearly tradition helping thousands of families.

And it all began with one simple question: What can I do to help?
