Dog Miraculously Rescued Alive After Spending 8 Days Trapped Beneath Collapsed Home

For eight long days, a dog named Buddy lay trapped beneath the rubble of his collapsed home with little hope of survival.

But against all odds, the 6-year-old pup was found alive.

Rescuers in Caraballeda, Venezuela, were searching through the debris on Thursday when they heard the faint sound of barking coming from beneath a pile of broken concrete. Following the noise, they carefully smashed through the rubble and reached Buddy, who had somehow survived more than a week without being able to escape.

Video of the emotional rescue shows the dust-covered dog being gently pulled through a small opening as rescuers cheer. Though visibly weak and badly dehydrated, Buddy was otherwise remarkably unharmed.

His owner had feared the worst after the home collapsed and had nearly given up hope of ever seeing his beloved companion again.

Buddy's incredible survival has become a symbol of hope during an otherwise heartbreaking time. In the midst of widespread destruction and loss, his rescue reminded everyone that miracles can still happen — even after eight days beneath tons of rubble.
