While carrying out mobile patrols to monitor flooded areas and move residents away from unsafe zones, Officer EL Tuapati of Ba Police Station encountered a scene she couldn’t ignore. Sitting alone on a street corner in heavy rain was an elderly woman, believed to be over 80 years old.

She was completely soaked, visibly shivering, and without shelter.

Officer Tuapati later shared that she could not leave the woman in those conditions. She brought her to the police station to ensure she was safe and protected from the harsh weather.

But her compassion didn’t stop there.

After completing her shift, the officer returned with a change of clothes so the elderly woman could warm up and stay dry.

Reflecting on the moment, Officer Tuapati wrote that wearing the uniform “represents not only authority, but also compassion and a duty to protect people from suffering.”

She also encouraged others to look out for elderly neighbors and those living alone during the ongoing bad weather, reminding the public that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
