Veteran Using A Cardboard Box As A Table Gets Surprised By A Secret Santa
December 26, 2025
Robert, a military veteran living in Idaho Falls, wasn’t expecting much this holiday season. With no family nearby and very limited resources, he planned to quietly get through the holidays the same way he spends most days — making do with what he has and never asking for help.

East Idaho News
Robert spends much of his time sitting in a single chair in his living room, which he carefully padded himself to make it more comfortable. His coffee table is a sturdy cardboard box, and his bed and bedding have clearly seen better days. Still, those who know him say his spirit is strong, and his pride runs even stronger.
What truly stands out about Robert, though, isn’t what he lacks — it’s what he gives.
On Thanksgiving, despite having very little food of his own, Robert offered to share what he had with someone else. The gesture left a lasting impression.
“He’s a veteran who has given so much in service to our country and now finds himself spending the holidays alone,” one person shared. “Even with so little, he still offered to share his Thanksgiving meal.”
That act of generosity didn’t go unnoticed.
Word of Robert’s situation reached a Secret Santa, who knew something had to be done. The Secret Santa teamed up with the East Idaho News “elves” to pay Robert a visit.
