A Georgia driver is getting a second chance at life — and he recently got to thank the doctor who made it possible.

More than a week after suffering a heart attack behind the wheel, John Nimmo was reunited with Dr. Kehinde Idowu, the physician who helped save his life after his vehicle crashed on a busy roadway in Roswell, Georgia.
The emotional reunion took place nine days after the terrifying incident. Nimmo had been driving when he suffered a heart attack and lost control of his car. By pure chance, Dr. Idowu was nearby and witnessed the crash.
As Nimmo waited to meet the man who helped save him, he said the moment had been on his mind ever since the accident.
“I counted down the days,” Nimmo shared. “We communicated back and forth a few times, but I couldn’t wait to finally meet him.”
When the two finally reconnected, the moment was deeply moving. Dr. Idowu said he simply did what he felt was right — immediately performing CPR on Nimmo while waiting for first responders to arrive.
“It’s not always that we get to see outcomes like this,” Idowu said. “To be able to see him, to share this joy with him and his family — it’s overwhelming.”
Once Nimmo had recovered enough, Idowu even took a moment to listen to his heartbeat himself — a small but powerful reminder of how close the situation had been.
For Nimmo, the experience has completely changed how he views life and the holidays ahead.
“This Thanksgiving feels like a bonus,” he said, adding that every holiday from now on feels especially meaningful. “Every Thanksgiving, every Christmas — they’ll all be because of you.”
Despite the praise, Dr. Idowu was quick to point out that many people played a role that day. He credited everyone involved — from bystanders and police officers with a defibrillator to EMS teams and hospital staff — and emphasized his faith as well.
“All of it came together in his favor,” Idowu said. “God really is the one who gets the glory.”
