October 27, 2025
In a powerful display of teamwork and courage, police officers and bystanders in Fort Worth, Texas, came together to save the life of an infant trapped under an overturned car after a crash on Interstate 30 Thursday morning.

The Fort Worth Police Department
Fort Worth Police Officers Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds responded to the scene after reports that a woman and her baby had been ejected from their vehicle during a collision.
Body camera footage released by the Fort Worth Police Department shows the officers arriving to find an overturned Hyundai Veloster and several good Samaritans already searching frantically for the missing child.
Within moments, one officer can be heard urgently saying, “Hey, we need to move the car. I think the baby’s under there.” Without hesitation, a group of bystanders joined the officers, lining up together to lift the wrecked vehicle.
Their efforts paid off. The officer was able to reach under the windshield and pull the unresponsive infant to safety. Sgt. Nichols immediately began chest compressions while Officer Bounds cleared the baby’s airway. Moments later, the team’s quick action paid off — the baby’s pulse returned, and faint sounds could be heard as the child regained consciousness.
Paramedics arrived soon after, and both the woman and child were taken to the hospital. Police later confirmed that they are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
The Fort Worth Police Department praised everyone involved, saying, “We are beyond proud of the life-saving actions performed by Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their bravery and quick response to this terrible scene. We are also grateful to the Fort Worth citizens who saw someone in danger and, without hesitation, assisted our officers.”
