Buffalo Principal Gets The Sweetest Surprise Wedding From Her Students
October 25, 2025
When Buffalo Academy of Science principal Brianna Lanoye started planning her wedding, she joked more than once about wanting to invite all of her students.
As it turns out, her school decided to make that wish come true — in their own creative way.

Teacher Brianna Lanoye and her husband Zach Klapp
Lanoye, who leads the K-12 charter school in Buffalo, New York, told CBS News that she often mentioned inviting the entire school to her big day. Since that wasn’t exactly practical, her students and staff secretly came up with the next best thing: a surprise mock wedding, complete with a makeshift gown, vows, and even candy ring pops.
Just days before her real wedding, the staff led Lanoye into the school courtyard, where more than 400 students and teachers were waiting.
“She couldn’t stop smiling. She loves the kids more than her husband,” one student teased.
Lanoye didn’t deny it.
“I love my students more than anything,” she said. “And I just hope that our students feel as loved as I felt in that moment.”
