Father And Young Son Stand Guard After Discovering Unlocked Candy Shop

October 24, 2025

Surveillance video from the newly opened Uptown Candy Store in Riverside, California, captured a heartwarming moment when a father and his young son noticed something unusual — the shop’s doors had been accidentally left unlocked after closing.

Instead of walking away, the pair decided to stand guard outside the store until security arrived.

When shop owner Donia Farraj found out what happened, she was touched by their good deed — especially since the incident occurred just days after the store’s grand opening.

“It’s just such a kind act,” Farraj said. “No one needs to do that or needs to take the time out of their night to do that.”

Wanting to share the wholesome story, Farraj posted the surveillance footage on TikTok, asking the internet to help identify the good Samaritans. It didn’t take long before the man in the video, Connor Smith, heard about his newfound fame — not from TikTok (since he and his wife don’t use it), but from an old friend who saw the clip going viral.

To thank the family for their kindness, Farraj invited Smith and his son back for a candy shopping spree — the sweetest way possible to show her gratitude.
