Talk about a twist of fate.
Just weeks after losing his home in a devastating fire, Alberton’s Daniel Drouin has found himself holding the winning ticket to a brand-new cottage.

“It’s life-changing really,” Drouin told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) on Saturday.
“It’s just such a weird coincidence that … I get picked out of that many people. And then all the circumstances that’s happened with me and my family in the last month, and then you go and win the house. You know, it’s, what are the odds?”
He had purchased a $50 raffle ticket for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters draw before the house fire.

Drouin, a musician, was getting ready for a nap before a Friday night show when his phone rang. On the line was Myron Yates, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, with the news of a lifetime.
At first, Drouin didn’t believe it.
“I thought it might have been a prank call… but it wasn’t,” he recalled. “After he gave me all the details, he called me back just to make sure I understood it was not a prank.”
Drouin plans to head to Charlottetown on Monday to see his new home and take care of paperwork. For a dad who’s been through heartbreak and loss, it’s a moment of renewal, hope, and family.
