Drone Finds Missing 70-Year-Old Woman In Tennessee Woods

In Westmoreland, Tennessee, a potentially dangerous situation had a happy ending thanks to teamwork and modern technology.

On Monday around 10:30 a.m., police received a call about a 70-year-old woman with dementia who had wandered into a wooded area off Bledsoe Street near Harrison Lane.
Officers quickly arrived on scene and began searching but knew time was critical, so they called in reinforcements from the Sumner County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.

By 11:26 a.m., EMA officials were on the ground and deployed two drones into the woods while officers continued canvassing.
Just 10 minutes later, one of the drones spotted the woman, allowing officers to reach her quickly.
She was then transported by Sumner County EMS as a precaution.

Thanks to the combined efforts of local law enforcement, emergency responders, and drone technology, the woman was found safe. This marks the 18th person located by drone since the program was introduced, according to the Sumner County EMA Director.
The Westmoreland Police Department expressed gratitude to the Sumner County EMA, Sheriff’s Department, EMS, and Emergency Communication Center for their swift and coordinated response.
