Australian Postman Goes Viral For Sweet Act Of Kindness

August 22, 2025

Most people expect their postman to drop off a package — not rescue their laundry. But one delivery driver in Logan, south of Brisbane, has gone viral for doing exactly that.

Last Thursday, Gurpreet Singh was making his usual rounds when a sudden downpour hit. Instead of simply leaving a parcel at the door, Singh noticed sheets hanging outside on the clothesline. In a thoughtful move caught on a security camera, he quickly took them down and placed them under cover, shielding them from the rain.

Homeowner Verrity Wandel couldn’t believe her eyes when she returned home.

“I thought I was coming home to find my wash soaking wet but NO,” she wrote on social media, sharing the footage of Singh’s good deed.

Her post quickly spread across the internet, where it struck a chord with thousands of people used to hearing complaints about careless deliveries.

On Australian breakfast television, Wandel recalled her surprise: “I just had visions of my washing being wrapped round and round the line, or embedded in the garden, and I drove in and there was no washing on the line. And I thought, that’s odd.”

Singh, however, seemed puzzled by all the fuss. The whole act took him "one minute," he said.

For Wandel, the gesture turned what could have been a soggy mess into an unforgettable reminder of everyday kindness — the kind that makes even a rainy day a little brighter.
