'It's About People': Firefighter Shares Coat With Boy After Crash In Snowstorm
February 20, 2025
Today's good news story comes from North Andover, Massachusetts.
A Massachusetts firefighter is being celebrated for a touching moment of kindness after a young boy was involved in a car crash during a snowstorm.

Last weekend, as snow fell heavily in North Andover, Firefighter David Testa of the North Andover Fire Department responded to a call about an accident at the intersection of Essex Street and Great Pond Road. Fortunately, the boy and his mother were unharmed, but as the tow truck arrived to take away their damaged car, the child stood in the cold, watching.
That’s when Testa did something simple but powerful—he took off his heavy turnout coat and wrapped it around the little boy, offering him warmth and comfort in the middle of the storm. A photo capturing the moment, shared by the fire department on Facebook, quickly gained attention, with commenters praising the firefighter’s compassion.
“This photo is the epitome of our job! ‘It’s about people,’” the department wrote.
For Testa, the overwhelming response has been humbling.
“All the reactions online have been incredible. All the positive comments people have left. It just makes me feel really positive about myself and the job I get to do every day,” he said.
