The Disney Treasure cruise ship successfully rescued four people from a sinking catamaran hundreds of miles off Bermuda’s coast on Sunday.

Disney Dream Cruise Ship
The 50-foot vessel, named Serenity, was approximately 265 miles from Bermuda when it began taking on water due to a damaged escape hatch, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard’s 5th District quickly issued a call for assistance to nearby ships, and the Disney Treasure, which was 80 miles away, responded without hesitation. The crew launched a lifeboat from the cruise liner, swiftly reaching the Serenity to bring all four passengers on board to safety.

The Disney Treasure, which was en route from Eemshaven, Netherlands, to its new base in Port Canaveral, Florida, took a short detour to respond to the emergency.
In a statement, Captain Marco Nogara of Disney Treasure expressed pride in his crew: “We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety.”
