Chance Hospital Meeting Leads Roofer To Save Animal Rescue
November 1, 2024
Today's good news story comes from Wiltshire, United Kingdom.
When Stuart Weston, a roofer from Wiltshire, UK, rushed his wife to the hospital earlier this year, he never imagined the trip would lead to a life-changing act of kindness.

There, he met Genna, a trustee of Coppershell Animal Rescue, who was anxiously telling hospital staff about the animals in her care. Despite her own pain, Genna was more worried about the sanctuary’s leaking barn roof, which they couldn’t afford to fix.
Coppershell, a sanctuary for animals like goats, chickens, dogs, cows, and pigs in the small village of Gastard, had been struggling to raise £20,000 for the roof repairs. Inspired by Genna's dedication, Weston offered to help the shelter at no cost.
He donated his time, materials, and expertise, repairing the roof and saving the charity an incredible £15,000.

“I believe if you do something right for people, it’ll come back to you,” Weston shared.
His generous act didn’t stop at the repair—he’s visited the shelter multiple times since, cementing a friendship with the team he expects to last “for a long time.”
The rescue expressed their gratitude on social media.
“Thanks to a chance meeting, we just saved the charity £15,000!” the shelter wrote. “Earlier this year, after an unexpected hospital visit, I crossed paths with an incredible couple. As we got talking, I mentioned our charity’s work and our urgent need to replace the barn roof. I asked for a quote, and they went above and beyond anything we could’ve imagined! Their generosity has made a huge difference, and we're beyond grateful.”
