The singer, who announced the giveaway on social media while reminiscing about his early days performing at nearby venues like Sticky’s and The Rev Room, invited anyone to come by for a bite before his sold-out show at Simmons Bank Arena.

The response was overwhelming. According to Gus’s general manager Justin Haley, the restaurant quickly filled up with fans, with lines stretching out the door and down the street.

“The line was down the hall, out the door, and to the stop sign down there,” Haley described, noting that the restaurant served around 400 people.

Jelly Roll’s generosity didn’t stop at the food. The star picked up the $11,000 tab and left an additional tip of more than $7,000 for the restaurant staff.

“He blessed every employee here,” Haley said. “He made sure they were generously taken care of for their time and what they did here.”
