Clyis Warren, a 7-year-old who relies on his iPad to communicate, was left without his vital tool after a weekend trip to a local auto parts store.
Clyis’s mother, Christy Warren, found herself in a tough spot. "We're struggling, so like many families, we can't just go out and replace a tablet," she explained to the local news station.
With few options left, she took to Facebook, hoping for a miracle. Little did she know that her plea would be answered in the most unexpected way.
While scrolling through Facebook, Taylor Police Officer Jasper Mercure came across Christy’s post. Moved by the family’s plight, he knew he had to do something.
"I contacted my co-workers on my shift, asked them if they would like to help out, and they were all more than willing to help out," Mercure shared.

For Officer Mercure, helping others is a way of life. As the sixth member of his family to serve in law enforcement, his dedication to the community runs deep. "It's just second nature," he said of his decision to step in.
Within a short time, Mercure and his fellow officers had pooled their resources to buy Clyis a brand-new iPad. The act of kindness left the Warren family overwhelmed with gratitude.
"I'm just still in awe that they did that for my child," Christy said, her voice filled with emotion. "Just pure gratitude that there are kind people out there who see a kid that needs help and spring into action."
