John Sotelo, an employee at the Shaw and Clovis Avenue warehouse store, recently found himself in a situation that would test his integrity. While going about his usual duties late last month, Sotelo noticed something unusual while stocking a pallet of cases of water.
Amidst the merchandise, an envelope conspicuously caught his attention. To his astonishment, it contained a substantial sum of money, totaling $3,940.
Sotelo didn't hesitate and immediately informed his superiors about the discovery. They tracked down the owner using the person's Costco member ID and store surveillance video.
"It was crazy because my manager walked me outside, and the member was right there," Sotelo told ABC News. "She told me, 'Oh, you know, I'm so glad you found this. That's for my kids to go to school'. I'm like, 'Okay, you know well, I'm happy to help'."
Back on August 1st, Sotelo says he made it his goal to become "Employee of the Month".
He accomplished that goal and now has his name on a plaque inside the Costco.
