Dallas Police Officers Distribute New Shoes To Kids Who Need Them

August 18, 2022

Every summer, the Dallas, Texas, Northwest Division Neighborhood Police Officer Unit provides shoes to hundreds of children in under-resourced neighborhoods before the school year starts through its "Share the Shoes" program.

It began back in 2017, when police officers in the Northwest Dallas community noticed that children didn’t have proper footwear.

The annual initiative helps build positive relationships within the community and also puts a smile on kids' faces as they receive brand new shoes.

This year they gifted sneakers to over 500 children.

"This year, Energy Transfer and Sunoco LP employees purchased new athletic shoes for over 520 children, totaling more than $10,000 worth of shoes. Over the past two weeks, employees and police officers visited seven recreational centers and two apartment complexes to distribute the new shoes," the energy service company wrote in a Facebook post.
