The kitten had fallen 8 feet down a 4-inch-wide drain pipe outside of a home in Cleveland, OH, on Tuesday.

She was crying for help.

Kym & Gary from Kamm's Cat Guardians, Craig and Mike from local news station WKYC, and Jim from the local Home Depot, spent hours trying to rescue the kitten from the pipe.

Jim fashioned a makeshift grabbing device to hopefully lasso the kitten and pull her out.

"Stay with me, please," one rescuer says during one of the failed rescue attempts.

Finally, the rescue attempt worked – but the kitten wasn't breathing.

One of the rescuers performed CPR on the kitten while they rushed her to a veterinarian, where she woke up and began crying.

"She wasn't breathing when she came out of the water but they did CPR on her and rushed her to MedVet. Soon after arriving at MedVet, she came around and started crying which was music to everyone's ears. They kept her until her body temperature was back up to normal and she was eating," Kamm's Cat Guardians shared on Facebook.

The kitten, named Matilda, is now in foster care.

"Thanks to Gary, Kym, Jim, Craig and Mike, this little one can grow up to live a long life," Kamm's Cat Guardians said.
