"We are giving random acts of kindness this month at local gas stations to help drivers with the pain of rising fuel costs," the department wrote on Facebook.

This effort is made possible by a donation from the Fortin family that will provide the Oceanside Police Department the opportunity to grant random acts of kindness all year long.

The money is distributed to all police officers on all shifts throughout the entire city, says Jennifer Attenza, the department's public information officer.
