Lil Nas X Is Paying For The Medical Treatment Of A Teen Who's Battling Lyme Disease
August 16, 2019
A 15-year-old boy in Georgia who's battling Lyme disease is going to get the medical treatment he needs, thanks to Lil Nas X.
David is in a vigorous battle against Lyme Disease. It is ravaging his nervous system and has weakened his body to the point that he can no longer walk across the room unassisted.
David's family has been crushed by the medical expenses and launched a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs.
"In November 2018, David developed pneumonia. Doctors treated him with the recommended course of antibiotics and steroids, but he remained sick," Karen Harisiades Gorzynski wrote.
"In early January 2019, X-rays and testing confirmed double walking pneumonia caused by a bacteria called mycoplasma - a known co-infection for Lyme disease.
"We calculate we will need about $20,000 to cover our out-of-pocket expenses for his care in 2019 alone."
Morgan, a close friend of the family, decided to reach out to the "Old Town Road" rapper on Twitter since he's also a Georgia native and from the same small town as David.
It was a long shot, but it worked.
The family has raised $7,597 for David's treatment as of Friday morning.
That means Lil Nas X is paying nearly $13,000 for a teen he's never met.
