Single Mom Makes Plea For Electricity On Twitter, Gets Over 100 Times The Amount Asked
June 19, 2019
A single mother in South Africa could not afford electricity for her home and made a desperate plea for help on Twitter.

Thabisa Xhelithole is a single mom of two, a 10-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. She works hard to provide for them but she is facing a difficult time financially.
She reached out to strangers on Twitter, asking if anyone could lend her R10 (.69 USD) for electricity. She also posted a photo of her meter as well as her electricity account number.

In a matter of hours, she had received more than double what she asked for -- and the money did not stop pouring in.
"I have no words to express the love that people from all walks have shown me," Xhelithole wrote on Twitter with an updated photo of her electricity meter.

So far she has received more than 3,000kWh.
After her story went viral, Xhelithole was invited to appear as a guest on Morning Live where she could not fight back the tears.
Again thank you everybody for the supportðŸ˜@akreana_@MorningLiveSABC pic.twitter.com/plINYiBGvF
