Single Mom Of Three Wins Powerball Jackpot And Shares Her Wealth With Wounded Veterans
November 17, 2018
A single mother of three who just won $343.9 million announced Wednesday that she'll be giving a half million of her jackpot to a foundation that assists wounded veterans.
Lerynne West, 51, of Redfield, Iowa, sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to tell her amazing story: how a single mother of three who just bought her first home took a break from unpacking to get a slice of pizza at a local gas station and purchased a $3 lottery ticket.
Since winning, West started The Callum Foundation in honor of her late grandson, and has dedicated herself to doing good for others.
On the Ellen Show, Lerynne revealed she'll be donating $500,000 to the Travis Mills Foundation, an organization that helps wounded warriors.
