I Went Out For A Walk This Afternoon And This Happened
By a friend • August 17, 2026
So this afternoon I was feeling pretty awful and decided to go for a walk. There’s a nice park around 40 minutes from my house, walking of course, so I headed there.
By the time I got there, I was still feeling pretty down and decided to get myself an ice cream. I’m trying not to drink, so I got an ice cream instead of an ice-cold beer.
I stood by the shop eating my ice cream when an older man approached me. He was homeless, but he wasn’t asking for money. He said he really wanted an ice cream and asked if I could buy one for him, which I did.
I don’t know why, but somehow my bad feelings went away after that.
I found it unusual. I mean, how often does a homeless man, let alone a man in his 60s, ask for an ice cream? It felt almost like a child was asking for one.
Somehow, that simple moment completely made my day.
