Did A Random Act Of Kindness And Witnessed One As Well

So, for context. I work in an Assisted Living facility that has a memory care area. If a resident in Assisted Living gets a dementia diagnosis and we have rooms in memory care, they sometimes get moved over to the memory care side. The front doors to the building lock around 7 when the receptionist leaves for safety reasons.

So, I clock out of work at 20:00. I'm heading to my car when I see an elderly lady in a walker pulling groceries out of her car. I almost walk by but my conscious gets the better of me. I walk up to her and ask if she needs help. She says she's okay, so I offer to unlock the door for her. She takes me up on that, and I end up carrying a couple bulkier items for her to her room.

As we walk, we make small talk. She asks if I work there, and I tell her I work in memory care, which is why she hasn't seen much of me. Here comes the act of kindness I witnessed: she asks if it would be possible to visit a friend of hers that got moved to memory care recently. I know the person she's talking about, and this person has had a hard time with the transition to memory care. It warms my heart to know she's asking.

Anyways, I walk her to her apartment, set her bags down, say hi to her dog (the most adorable, tiniest little Yorkie Terrier), and start the long drive home.
