A Stranger Bought Me Flowers And A Card Today

By A Friend • March 14, 2025

Today I found out my grandmother’s cancer turned terminal and they gave her less than 6 months to live. She lives across the country but her and I have always had a special bond.

After her diagnosis in November I was devastated but after she had surgery to remove the cancer we were hopeful for remission. Until today when her scans came back that the cancer had aggressively spread to her liver and treatment was no longer an option. When I found out the news I was devastated. Completely and utterly heartbroken. I was at work so I went out to my car and completely broke down sobbing on the phone to my boyfriend.

Apparently a customer from my job who recognized me from regularly shopping saw me but I had no idea anyone was even around. A little while later I composed myself and I went back into work and shortly after I was approached by one of my associates saying there was something taped to my car. I had him take it off my car and bring it in to me and it was a bouquet of beautiful flowers and a card.

I opened the card and it read: “tears are words the mouth can’t say nor can the heart bear! I hope these flowers can bring your smile back! Text me if you need someone to talk”

I once again broke down into tears reading the card. No one knew the news I just received and how heavy my heart was in those moments and yet someone cared about me enough to leave such a kind gesture. I immediately thought it was from a thoughtful coworker so I texted the number thanking them for the flowers and asking who had left them. They responded and told me they were a customer who I had helped and welcomed into the store many times and that when they saw me so upset they wanted to do something to try and cheer me up.

I still don’t know exactly who this man is but his kindness and care brightened my day when I needed it most. There is no way for him to know what it was that I was crying about but he took the time to do something good and be entirely selfless just for a girl who had said hello to him a few times.

Good people still exist and it is moments like this when I remember there is still faith in humanity.
