The Kids Are Alright
By a friend • February 26, 2025
I (28, F) am pregnant with my first baby, nearly in my third trimester. I work a physically demanding factory job. My shifts are 12 hours long and require me to be on my feet the majority of the shift. I love my work but it definitely isn't the easiest these days.
My direct team includes 3 young men (19, 19 and 21) and holy moly they have restored my faith in humanity. (Not to the mention the rest of my amazing team). They are always asking how I'm doing, asking questions about how the baby and I are doing, what pregnancy is like etc. They also show so much concern for my comfort, going above and beyond offering to pick up extra work so that I can rest a bit "do you want me to go get you a chair to sit" "is that safe for you to do" "I'll swap tasks with you" etc.
It makes my heart so happy, especially given I am expecting a little boy myself. There's hope for today's kiddos.
