Black Ice
By barbara • December 11, 2024
I was a 17 year old high school Senior, flying to Oregon for a job interview.
Twenty minutes before touchdown, the pilot announced that streets were covered with black ice.
The man sitting next to me asked me how I was getting from the airport to the hotel. I told him the company had a rental car waiting for me. He asked me if I knew what black ice is. Being a California sunshine gal, I had no idea.
He told me it was very dangerous and no way would he let me drive in it. He helped me cancel the rental car, then walked with me to the taxi area and made sure I was safely on my way in a taxi.
I am so thankful he went out of his way to do this for me. It was late at night and I'm sure he was tired, but he took the time to make sure I would be safe.
