This Dad Took The Most Beautiful Photos Of His Daughter Dressed As Inspiring Women
June 16, 2015
Brooklyn photographer Marc Bushelle is getting a lot of recognition lately for the brilliant series he calls "The Heroines Project."
The series stars his five year-old daughter, Lily, dressed as female historical figures. Marc says he wanted a way to spend quality time with his daughter but also teach her about strong heroines in history. He added that it was also a great way to build her self confidence and sense of self worth.
Here's Lily as Mother Teresa.
Lily as the first African-American woman astronaut, Mae Jemison.
Lily as the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize, Malala Yousafzai.
Lily as the first female four-star admiral, Michelle J. Howard.
Lily as author and entertainer Misty Copeland.

Lily as American singer/songwriter and civil rights activist, Nina Simone.
Lily as the first African-American woman pilot in the US, Bessie Coleman.
Lily as politician, educator, and author Shirley Chisholm.
Lily as author and Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison.
Perhaps the most touching part?
"I want my daughter to be proud of me," Marc told Upworthy. "When I am not here anymore, I want her to be able to look back at these images and remember this time, smile and keep being the trailblazer that I know she will be. She is my heroine."
