Nearly a century of love, motherhood, and family history was captured in a single unforgettable photograph when six generations of women gathered together to welcome the newest member of their family.

At the heart of the image is 98-year-old Cordelia Mae Hawkins, who recently met her 7-week-old great-great-great-granddaughter, Zhavia, for the very first time. The touching photo also includes Zhavia’s mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, creating a rare six-generation portrait that spans almost 100 years of life.
“That’s almost a hundred years between them,” Zhavia’s great-grandmother, Gracie Howell, told USA TODAY. “To be in the same room, it was just amazing.”
The women traveled from Ohio, South Carolina, and Kentucky to make the special moment happen, knowing how meaningful it would be to gather every generation together in one place.

According to Howell, the women share many of the same physical features, making the family resemblance impossible to miss in the now-viral photo. Even more remarkable, she said, each of the women became mothers at around the same age in life, creating an extraordinary thread of continuity stretching across generations.
For Hawkins, who is approaching her 100th birthday, the moment was especially emotional. Few families ever get the chance to see six living generations together, let alone capture it in a photograph.
The image has resonated with people online because it is more than just a family portrait. It is a reminder of legacy, resilience, and the powerful connections that tie generations together over time.
