Hospital Staff Go Above And Beyond To Keep Couple’s 62-Year Anniversary Tradition Alive

October 31, 2025

Sixty-two years of love… and still going strong.

When Juanita and William couldn’t leave the hospital to celebrate their anniversary, the Piedmont Cartersville team (in Cartersville, Georgia) refused to let the day pass quietly.

Every year, the couple marks their anniversary with lunch at The Varsity… a simple, sweet tradition that means the world to them.

This time, discharge didn’t come in time.

But thanks to Piedmont Cartersville, that Varsity lunch came right to their hospital room instead… complete with hot dogs, paper hats, and even a surprise apple pie.

“It’s exactly what the Piedmont Promise looks like in action,” said Clincal Manager Leah Marshall. “Lisa’s compassion turned a missed tradition into a moment of joy.”

Because sometimes, the best medicine is kindness… and a little taste of The Varsity.
