5 M. Night Shyamalan Movies You Can’t Miss
October 8, 2025
Creating a movie that resonates with the audience is no less than creating art. M. Night Shyamalan is a director who is known for creating art with most of his movies. He is also known for making some of the most iconic movies of all time. I’m pretty sure you must have watched some of these movies without realizing that they were by M. Night Shyamalan.

You can find most of M. Night Shyamalan’s movies online, which makes it easier for you to stream them whenever you want. However, do keep in mind that you need a reliable internet connection to stream the movies back-to-back. Xfinity packages give you just the kind of internet plans that is tied with a TV service, giving you the best of both words for a perfect streaming experience. Once you get your internet sorted out, here are some M. Night Shyamalan movies that you shouldn’t miss:
Unbreakable (2000)
Unbreakable was the first movie in the popular trilogy, and it revolves around a security guard named David Dunn (played by Bruce Willis) who is the sole survivor of a catastrophic train crash. With time, he also realizes that he has superhuman strength and starts believing that he is a superhero.
David is then approached by Elijah Price, who refers to himself as Mr. Glass since he has a rare disease that makes his bones super brittle, to the point that his bones could break even from the lightest of impacts. He meets David and explains to him how David is actually a superhero, which were thought to be a fictional character. This changes David’s perspective on life until he finds out what Glass’s true intentions were.
The movie was the first part of the trilogy, and I’ll tell you about the other two in the sections ahead. I’m sure both of them are movies that you have seen before, without realizing that they were a part of the trilogy.
Split (2016)
The next movie in the trilogy is Split, starring James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man who suffers from dissociative identity disorder due to years of trauma and neglect. Over time, he had developed 23 different personalities. During the start of the movie, he kidnaps three teenage girls, Casey (Anya Taylor- Joy) and two of her friends, when they are returning from a birthday party and are waiting for one of the girls’ dads to pick them up.
However, Kevin kidnaps them and begins showing some of his personalities to them, which they try to manipulate so that they can escape. The last personality, however, is the Beast, whose purpose is to cleanse the world by removing people who aren’t “pure”, the ones who have never been through any turmoil or trauma in their lives.
Towards the end of the movie, there is a scene in which David Dunn is sitting in a bar and talking to the waitress, who mentions that there was another criminal a couple of years ago who was arrested for the same ideas. To that, David replies that it was Mr. Glass, making a connection between Split and Unbreakable.
Glass (2019)
Glass was the last installment in the trilogy, and in this movie, Mr. Glass tries to get David and Kevin under one roof so that he can exploit their powers. However, the three of them are kept in a psychiatric facility where the doctor tries to convince them that they only suffer from delusions of grandeur and that they actually have no superpowers to begin with.
However, Mr. Glass eventually manipulates David and Kevin to fight each other, while Kevin is still in the form of the Beast, which makes him indestructible. You’ll have to watch the movie to see what happens next, since I don’t want to spoil the movie for you.
The Visit (2015)
The Visit is one of my all-time favorite M. Night Shyamalan movies. If there is one thing that the director is famous for, it’s his insane plot twists. The same is the case in The Visit, where two siblings, Becca and Tyler, travel to their grandparents’ house to spend some time, despite not ever having seen them. Once they make their way to the house, some bizarre things start happening, and it is up to Becca and Tyler to find a way to escape. You’ll have to watch the movie to see how the tension builds up, and the movie definitely has the kind of plot twist that will make your jaw drop.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
This list would have been impossible without adding The Sixth Sense to it, which is among the most iconic movies in pop culture.
The Sixth Sense is about a little shy boy named Cole (Haley Joel Osment) who has the ability to talk to spirits and help them with their unfinished business in the world (something like you would see in Ghost Whisperer).
At first, Cole doesn’t know how to utilize his powers, and the spirits would hurt him. However, Cole then meets Dr. Malcolm (Bruce Willis), who is a well-known psychologist who helps Cole navigate through his powers and use them for the better. Just like most of his other movies, The Sixth Sense also has an ICONIC plot twist.
Another movie that I want to mention here is Devil (2010), in which a group of people get stuck in an elevator and start dying mysteriously, until they find out that one of them is the devil himself. However, if you’re looking for recommendations, I think you should watch the trilogy first and watch Unbreakable before you watch any other movie.
